Whether you want to improve your English to further your academic goals, attain professional success, or converse with confidence, UCLA Extension has a program for you.

Academic Intensive English Program (AIEP)
The AIEP provides students with high-quality preparation for studying in an American university. This full-time program focuses on academic skills: reading, writing, vocabulary development, TOEFL and IELTS preparation, and more.

Intensive English Communication Program (IECP)
The IECP focuses on improving the speaking and communication skills for personal, social, and professional reasons. IECP helps students build confidence in their ability to communicate and engage with people from around the world for business, travel, friendship, and social networking.

American Culture and Communication (ACC)
A part-time course, designed for participants 18 years or older who are in the United States for tourism, business, and/or visiting family. The course helps participants improve English skills while learning about American culture and life in Southern California.

Individual Courses: English for International Students
For students with advanced English proficiency (between 83-99 TOEFL iBT or 6-7 IELTS) to sharpen their writing, speaking, reading, listening and presentation skills.

After a year of taking intensive English classes at the American Language Center, I felt confident in my ability to handle graduate-level academic work. Thanks to ALC’s professional teachers and a carefully designed curriculum, I got the essential language skills that helped me graduate from Pepperdine University with a Master’s Degree in Global Business.
